How do you build community with other black women?

Here are some reflections from Black women I interviewed on the significance of us building community with each other:

"Powerful Black female community is about dismantling competition" and "I want to be in spaces where I can be fed, not drained."--Dr. Brooke Harris-Garad
"Black women and girls never have a chance to just be. Society doesn't allow us to be off. We always have to be on. That is why building community with [other Black women is so important]."--Devon Shepard
"Black women are so stretched in how we can support each other. We do not have the luxury of time . . . I see so much potential that is not given its full breadth. So I try to be as present [with other Black women] as possible." --Dr. Carlotta Penn
